Little News Weekly

About Us

The Little News Weekly has a storied past! The first Newsletter was created on a whim by K.D. Jayne (who became the first Editor-in-Chief) circa autumn 2000 (?). The original Newsletter office was headquartered at 15 Matthew Drive- a building which is still standing today!! Tours are offered daily of the outside grounds which includes an observation deck where you can peek into the dining room where it all started! What you won’t see is a printer, however. Just kidding about the observation deck; not kidding about the printer.

The Little News Weekly has evolved over the years a great deal. Early newsletters were full of fantastic stories loosely based on the antics of the Donohue Family, along with other contributions by extended family, which might include real-life (or made-up) stories, recipes, poems, opinion pieces, artwork, and letters to the editor. Throughout the years the underlying principle of the Newsletter has remained the same: We will print anything!! Haha, that is not exactly true, but close.

Every year, The Newsletter is published right before Thanksgiving so many of our issues have references to this holiday. However, the paper has evolved/ expanded quite a bit to include reports of interesting and/or noteworthy happenings covering the entire year. For some family members, this has served as a travel log—with our gang basically circumnavigating the globe and reporting back!!

While there will always be a paper copy of the newsletter for you to grab onto on Thanksgiving, we are also excited to offer a digital version on this website. Having the website alone will open more opportunities for our readers and writers to create and collaborate. The timing of the launch is also somewhat commensurate with the inauguration of fresh voices in the editorial staff. Starting in 2022, and now more firmly in 2023 and beyond, we have a larger and more capable staff than ever before. While K.D. Jayne will stay on as advisor and Editor Emeritus, Dillon Stambaugh is now in his second year as Editor-in-Chief. This year we also welcome Joe Jayne as Senior Technical Advisor. We continue to rely on John Jayne for printing and collating- a thankless task so I am saying thank you!!

We hope you enjoy the Little News Weekly!

K.D. Jayne
